Left Hand Brewing calls an ‘Audible’ on Manning!

LeftHand1Peyton Manning’s postgame beverage of choice, , has received a good-natured penalty flag from the clever folks at Left Hand Brewing.

After Manning professed his desire for the macrobrew in a post-game interview upon beating the Chargers, the folks at the Longmont independent craft brewery delivered a care package to Sports Authority Field at Mile High: three cases of Left Hand beer and a polite note explaining the “audible” and wishing the quarterback good luck in the AFC Championship.

“We think it’s a better call,” the letter said of Colorado craft beer intended for Manning and the team.

News of the stunt spread on social media after the brewery tweeted out a photo Monday, with talk of a viral campaign to change the Broncos’ quarterback’s beer of choice.

Left Hand spokeswoman Emily Armstrong said the post-game interview “got our minds turning,” and an idea was hatched to deliver the three cases of Polestar Pilsner, Sawtooth Ale and Milk Stout Nitro to the stadium around noon Monday. She said security put the kabosh on the delivery photo – not an officially licensed NFL product? – but promised to deliver the beer.

“Left Hand of course has nothing but the utmost respect for Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos,” Armstrong said. “Just a friendly nudge towards the wide offering of Colorado craft beer here in their home state. Broncos and craft beer – it’s what Colorado does!”

Coincidentally or not, Bud Light happens to be official beer of the NFL. There’s also a good chance that beer Manning was thirsting for was brewed in Colorado. , which is owned by the multinational conglomerate InBev, operates a brewery in Fort Collins.

The quarterback’s endorsement did not go unnoticed by the Bud Light marketing team either …
